With sadness, we received news of the passing of our Co-Founder, Michelle Diane Ansara. She was battling with chronic diseases since 2020 and never fully recovered. She had a routine procedure in late June 2023, and was in the hospital ever since, as complications haven't made things easy, Michelle passed peacefully on Friday, 08.11.23 at the age of 65. From its inception in 2014 through 2020, Michelle served as the Founding President and helped govern the Board of Directors for the organization. Under her governing body, Women of Toledo successfully offered programs and services to 5300 women and girls in our region that elevate the quality of life, and diversity of these women and girls while improving economic empowerment in the communities in which they live, work, play, and raise a family. During her volunteer service with Women of Toledo, Michelle worked tirelessly to help raise more than $100K in funds so we can continue providing FREE programs and services through our No Women Left Behind Fund. A few of Michelle’s favorite activities were the International Women’s Day forum, Macaron Day, and the Intercultural Global Gala. In 2020 International Women’s Day, partnering with the Toledo Opera Guild, awarded Michelle the Northwest Ohio Ordinary Women doing Extraordinary Things Award, which sadly turned out to be one of her final public appearances with us. Michelle Ansara’s legacy will continue as we at Women of Toledo celebrate our achievements and milestones, as we nurture the past, reflecting the present to create a more equitable future for all women and girls of the world. Michelle Diane Ansara - you are one of a kind. And without a doubt, your presence will be missed! Please join us in celebrating the life of Michelle Ansara on Saturday, August 26 from noon to 2 pm at the Castillo Funeral Home (1757 Tremainsville Rd, Toledo). Please feel free to wear something as colorful as Michelle’s vivid, sparkling spirit while we share stories and gather in her memory. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations to be made to Donate Life & Women of Toledo (Michelle Ansara's Memorial Fund) |
