About International Day of the Girls

Since 2012, October 11 has been marked as the International Day of the Girl by The United Nations. The day aims to highlight and address the needs and challenges girls face while promoting girls' empowerment and the fulfillment of their human rights.

Investing in our Youth: Our Leadership, Our Well-Being

This year’s forum will focus on youth civic engagement, and human rights education, with a goal at empowering young people to drive change and safeguard their freedoms for a just and equitable society. Together, we will explore how our youth can shape their communities and advocate for the rights and freedoms that belong to them as we seek to empower the next generation of leaders through: Civic engagement and human rights education are critical because they provide young people with the tools to influence change, protect their freedoms, and ensure a just and equitable society for all.

2023 International Day of the Girl: 

Quiet The Noise, Raise Her Voice

The International Day of the Girl Child focuses attention on the need to address the challenges girls face and to promote girls’ empowerment and the fulfillment of their human rights. The theme this year for International Day around the world is the Gender Digital Divide.
