Advocacy

Our Advocacy Initiative helps support and assist in educating, engaging, and empowering our female community (and HeForShe) pertaining to our current political, economic, and social issues.

Learn more about our Annual Signature Forums!

Every year we organize four Advocacy awareness forums open to all community members to attend: International Women's Day (March 8), Cultural Heritage Campaign, Women's Equality Day (August 26), and HeForShe.

International Women's Day

International Women's Day is a global holiday celebration that happens every year on March 8! Every year we come together to join the worldwide conversation and highlight the importance of this issue and how coming together can create an impact in our communities.

Cultural Heritage

To support these goals, WOT will continue creating community awareness and outreach through our #419Women & #HerStory Initiatives and Cultural Heritage campaign to continue educating, engaging, and empowering our community at large on the importance of preserving our cultural diversity and heritage because it keeps our integrity as people. Women within our communities evolve and grow, our young women need to be informed of their own culture and feel empowered to be themselves. Each year we organize a series of #419Women, #HerStory, and Cultural Heritage campaign programs.

Women's Equality Day

Women’s Equality Day recognizes the passage of the 19th Amendment extending voting rights to women in 1920. This event culminated in a 72-year, peaceful campaign that had its formal beginnings in 1848 at the world’s first women’s rights convention in Seneca Falls, New York. Even though the 19th Amendment extended voting rights to women, only white women were allowed to vote. It wasn’t until the passage of the 1965 Voting Rights Act that all African Americans were granted the full right to vote

HeForShe Forum

HeForShe is the UN Women’s solidarity movement for gender equality. HeForShe invites men and boys to build on the work of the women’s movement as equal partners, crafting and implementing a shared vision of gender equality that will benefit all of humanity. Men play a critical role in supporting and enabling women’s economic empowerment. HeForShe engages men to examine how their own personal and professional lives can better recognize, reduce, and redistribute care and responsibilities between the market and the state, between the household and the workplace, and between women and men – UN Women, HeforShe In Brief
