The year 2023: LISC Toledo, Welcome TLC, and Women of Toledo presented the 2nd Annual Multicultural Twilight Market (MTM) at the Toledo Farmer's Market. Open to all, MTM offers family-friendly fun activities organized by the University of Toledo, Center of International Studies and Program, Other activities include music and performances from around the world including African drum, Middle Eastern dance, and Culture of Mexico through folkloric dance.
Supported by Clark Schaffer Hackett, PNC Bank, and Lucas County, we had over 80 vendors and businesses representing the BIPOC+, women+, and immigrant-owned small businesses in our ecosystem. Partnering with Jumpstart, City of Toledo Economic Development and Human Relations Commission, three businesses that participated in business development opportunities were eligible to receive a mini-grant of $1000 each upon the voting session for People Choice's Award activity from 6 pm to 9 pm. The project is aimed to increase the visibility and opportunity to connect small businesses with available resources to sustain and grow their business while promoting a vibrant, diverse Toledo as a welcoming city and county.
Other than helping reduce barriers that underrepresented and underserved small businesses and entrepreneurs often face to recover, grow, or start their businesses, Women of Toledo aims to strengthen our neighborhoods and community through the appreciation of racial, ethnic, and cultural diversity to encourage an inclusive and peaceful society. Together, we will raise awareness of the vital role that immigrants and diverse populations have played in building a strong and successful community and nation with economic empowerment.
